Take part in The Big Draw – one of the world's largest drawing festivals, taking place from 1 October. The Victoria and Albert Museum and the British Library have hosted events in the past, so look out for what’s on this year.

On 3 October the young (aged between 7 and 11) and young at heart can spend the night at the museum when you book tickets to Dino Snores — Sleep over at the Natural History Museum. From 7pm to 9.50am you’ll experience a torch-lit trail of the dinosaurs before snuggling down in the shadow of Diplodocus.

Remembrance Sunday soon follows, with a glorious show of red poppies to mark those who lost their life in the line of duty.

The Lord Mayor's Show takes place on 8 November from 11am until 2.30pm. Find a space to spectate along the three and a half miles between Bank and Aldwych, and watch the huge procession of marching bands, floats and acrobats pass by. Or gather at 5pm for the Lord Mayor's Firework display.

Commemorate Remembrance Sunday on 9 November at the Cenotaph Parade in Whitehall. The march past takes place along Whitehall and Parliament Street from 8am – a fitting tribute to all those who have lost their lives in conflicts.
