Offering almost 200 acres of land, the resort’s grounds are lined with oak trees, magnolia plants and fragrant rose bushes. Meander past the white-column mansions of Magnolia Bend, and cross one of the bridges to reach the wooded Ol’ Man Island. Here you will discover a central swimming pool with a waterslide which is built into the “abandoned” millworks. Nearby, there’s a hot tub, a smaller children’s pool, and a themed playground for little ones. Catch-and-release fishing and evening “campfires on de'Bayou” are also hosted here.

Elsewhere on the property, there are five quieter leisure pools and an array of family-friendly activities on offer. You can go on two-hour guided fishing excursions, rent bicycles and boats at the marina, or go on horse drawn carriage rides in the nigh time (all available for a supplement charge). Gamers can spend time in the Medicine Show Arcade and, on select nights, you can watch complimentary Disney film screenings on the Magnolia South Pool deck. Otherwise, amble along the Sassagoula River to enjoy the facilities at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort French Quarter – including the impressive Doubloon Lagoon pool area.

Riverside Mill Food Court is a quick-service restaurant which has been designed to resemble a cotton mill. Inside, there are six food stations which serve fresh bakery items, pizza and pasta dishes, healthy salads and take away items such as sandwiches. There’s also a carving station and a grill.

Head to Boatwright's Dining Hall to dine on Cajun-style cuisine and popular American fare. This nautical themed restaurant overlooks the Sassagoula River and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner each day. Menu items include New Orleans-style Gumbo, burgers, jambalaya and grilled cuts of meat.

Scat Cat’s Club Lounge is renowned for its Mardi Gras inspired cocktails and live jazz music on select nights. For light snacks and drinks, there’s the charming River Roost lounge which offers live musical entertainment too. Otherwise, order refreshing beverages at the poolside bar, Muddy Rivers.
