The official opening night is of John Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men on Broadway is set for 16 April, although you can enjoy a sneak preview throughout April. This is also the start of Robert De Niro's Tribeca film festival where a host of screenings are taking place to mark the occasion. On 19 April The Museum of Modern Art presents its largest exhibition ever organised at the museum ­– Sigmar Polke 1963-2010. And as it is Easter, throw caution to the wind and don an extravagant hat for the Easter Parade and Bonnet Festival on 20 April along Fifth Avenue.

Stop by Charles James: Beyond Fashion at The Metropolitan Museum of Art from Thursday 8 May for a glimpse at the recently revamped Anna Wintour Costume Center. The first show to exhibit in the new space will be devoted to 20th-century American designer Charles James – who’s exquisite designs can often been found in the glossy pages of Vogue.

Look out for venues taking part in The Manhattan Cocktail Classic between Friday 9 and Tuesday 13 May. With nearly 100 ticketed events across five days, you could find yourself at a drink-slinging workshop, tiki tour, bar crawl and mixology lecture.

Feel the rhythms of Dance Parade on 17 May, as the procession moves through the streets of New York, whilst moving through the history of dance – with African beats, sultry salsa and urban street dance to name just a few.
