London 2012 Olympic sponsorship.

May 2013

British Airways received two awards for its role as official airline partner of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games at the prestigious BT Sports Industry Awards that took place 3 May 2013. The airline was short listed in seven categories and beat off tough competition to collect the high-profile awards for best live experience and best sponsorship of a sport event.

The best live experience award was scooped for BA’s acclaimed ‘Park Live’ venue at the Olympic Park – the only place where fans could watch the live action on site, attracting more than 700,000 visitors in total.

British Airways beat other high profile brands to the flagship Best sponsorship of a sport event prize – with the trophy fittingly awarded by Olympic silver medalist Louis Smith, one of the four athletes whom British Airways sponsored individually during the games.

Abi Comber head of marketing at British Airways, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to be recognised for our contribution to the London 2012 Games, especially at such a prestigious awards ceremony. We’re proud to have been involved in the Games, to show the world Britain at its best.”
