OpenSkies story

In March 2008, the new legislation “Opens the Skies” agreement came into effect between the US and the European Union, allowing any US or EU airline to operate between any two point without the usual regulatory barriers. British Airways, as the leading airline between the US and EU, quickly took advantage of these new rules by establishing a new airline. OpenSkies officially started in June 2008.

Recognizing that the airline industry is constantly dynamic, OpenSkies has been designed as a new, innovative, responsive and flexible carrier.

OpenSkies leverages the very best that British Airways has to offer, while at the same time creating a small, personal and unique experience normally only associated with newer, start-up airlines.
