The Emblem Hotel is probably the closest thing you’ll get to bedding down in a Czech Republic art gallery, without causing any trouble with security staff. The hotel champions Czech artists – including established talent such as Eva Kot'átková, Aleksandra Vajd and Ji?í Kovanda, plus on-the-up bright young things such as David Krnanský and Johana Pošová – cleverly offering them free room nights in exchange for on-loan pieces. These are changed every few years, meaning the hotel, likes its muses, enjoys a state of constant creative evolution.
Bedding down on a cold, hard art-gallery floor isn’t that tempting, but the Emblem Hotel has small but handsome bedrooms (the best of which, the Library Suite, even has a surprise waiting for you behind a library shelf). You’re invited to settle in, make yourself at home, smoke a cigar in the fumoir, sink your teeth into some succulent steak in the restaurant, unwind in the spa and bubble away beatifically in the rooftop Jacuzzi. When, and only when, you’ve ticked off all of the above, we’d advise you to wander out and discover all the lures of Old Town Prague, waiting on your doorstep.

Sink your teeth into prime cuts of American beef – matched with highly gluggable Californian wines – at George Prime Steak, where top chef George Betak rustles up crowd-pleasing comfort food. Highlights include the lobster chop salad, baked sparkling oysters, the hefty Porterhouse steak for two, and the self-titled Ultimate Chocolate Cake, which earns its name with dark, white and milk chocolate mousse, crispy nougat layers and a chocolate-infused sponge. (Savoury-toothed Smiths might prefer the decadent cheese platter, which comes with house-made marmalade.) The restaurant is a dark ’n’ dapper space, lorded over by an impressive ceiling light. A Contiental breakfast is served daily in the George Prime Steak Restaurant.

Breakfast is served daily from 7am to 10pm in the George Prime Steak Restaurant. The restaurant opens for dinner between 6pm to 10pm and the bar opens daily from 5pm to 10pm.
Room Service:
Emblem has no intention of letting you go thirsty or hungry: the 24-hour room service stars items from the restaurant menu, including salads, soups, steak, mains and desserts until 10pm; after that, there’s a smaller selection (burgers. pizzas and so on).
Hotel Bar:
The bar is housed within the restaurant; you’ll walk through it to get to the main dining space, so pre-dinner tipples or postprandials are pretty much obligatory). There’s a tempting bar menu if you want to match your Californian cabernet sauvignon to something tasty; pick from burgers, salads, truffled mac’n’cheese, poutine and more…
