Within Sun City, you’ll find the Valley of Waves – a whopping water park with Africa’s only inland beach. It also offers water rides for thrill seekers, lazy rivers and a pool for those looking for something calmer, plus a spider web ‘sway bridge’ leading to hidden cave waterfalls with rare plants. There’s an additional water park, too, offering activities including wake boarding and parasailing. For adults, there’s also a casino with hundreds of slot machines and 40 table games.

Golfers are spoilt for choice with two impressive courses to choose from. The Lost City Golf Course covers just under 250 acres and takes the shape of the African continent. It’s joined by the Crocodile Lounge club house, providing light bites and refreshments, as well as a chipping green, driving range, practice bunker, putting green and pro shop. Located on the opposite end of Sun City, the Gary Player Golf Course, ranked among the best in the world, also has a restaurant and bar, halfway house at the ninth hole, chipping green, putting green and pro shop.

In addition to Sun City’s waterpark, the hotel has its own Olympic-size pool, surrounded by cushioned sun loungers, beside a pool bar.

For pampering inspired by local healing traditions, the hotel’s Royal Spa provides a host of treatments with products from Thalgo la Beaute Marine, Swiss Bellefontaine, iS Clinical and Davines. The menu ranges from massages and facials to energy healing, hydrotherapy and bathology treatments. Signature offerings include the Royal Spa Signature Massage with hot stones, Balinese and Indian head massages and a signature massage candle, and a Royal Signature Rejuvenating Shimmer Milk Hydrobath, to infuse the skin with vitamins and minerals. Refuel post-spa with a raw juice, smoothie, salad or light bite from the spa cafe.
