The Bay Club is an activity hub with a host of facilities, ranging from the beachside to a fitness centre. Here, you can stand-up paddle board or play a friendly game of beach volleyball. There are also two tennis courts and two squash courts. If you prefer, you can get your exercise at the fully equipped gym and take Zumba and Body Pump classes.

Enter pool noodle races with the whole family or take your little ones to the dedicated kids’ pool and playground with plenty of shade. They will also love the playroom, joining puppet making sessions and jumping frog races.

For some much-needed pampering, retreat to Spa InterContinental. They provide a relaxing foot ritual at the start of every treatment, so take the weight off, and stay in your state of bliss with a Balinese massage and healthy juice. Men and women can also chill out in their own sanctuaries, complete with a steam room, sauna and Jacuzzi.

There are seven restaurants and three bars. Coral is the all-day buffet restaurant featuring brasserie-style eggs for breakfast and Caribbean dishes at the theme nights. Novecento effuses the aesthetic of a Parisian brasserie and tempts you with croque monsieurs and blue cheese gnocchi. Meanwhile, Villa Beirut prides itself on Lebanese cuisine with traditional live music.

La Mar Beach is also open all day and serves sea views, pina coladas and flavourful Peruvian dishes, like oysters and ceviche. Alternatively, visit La Mar for dinner to try Chef Gaston Acurio’s Peruvian dishes – from steaks to empanadas. Don’t miss their cool cocktails, which feature the tried and tested classics like margaritas – or opt for the signature Pisco Punch, packed with plenty of pineapple.

For lunch and dinner, Belgian Cafe boasts bitterballen and cheese croquettes indoors or on the terrace. Waffles and Belgian beers are also on offer, along with live music and sports screenings. If you’re craving a taste of Greece, dine at Mykonos, where olive trees and bouzouki music accompany mezze and spanakopita.

The Pool Bar has you covered in between dips with juices, cocktails and chicken shawarma wraps. Once the evening hits, Manko is the place to be with its cigar lounge, cocktail bar and live DJ sets. Unwind with an old-fashioned in hand while admiring Doha’s skyscrapers here. For a more laidback nightcap, head to La Vue, where the collection of cigars and rare whiskeys reigns supreme.
