Holidays in Turin
The city may not get the country’s biggest crowds, but Turin holidays are still an introduction to the best of Italy. Turin Centro is flawlessly elegant, filled with baroque palaces such as the curved-front Palazzo Carignano, and arcaded squares, including the Piazza San Carlo, that are lined with old cafes serving Bicerin, a local blend of espresso and hot chocolate.
You can see the nearby Alps from the dome of its Mole Antonelliana cinema museum, while Turin is also home to Teatro Regio, one of Italy’s most groundbreaking opera houses. Near the city is Alba, a gastronomic centre known for its wine, white truffles and, less prestigiously, as the home of Nutella. And within an hour of central Turin are the Alps, with summer walking and winter skiing in areas such as the Gran Paradiso National Park both possible as day trips.
