A holiday in Salzburg offers a rare opportunity to combine one of Europe's most fascinating cities with world-class skiing. At the heart of Salzburg you'll find a beautiful, baroque old town steeped in history, and 23 ski resorts at its fingertips. All are covered by one pass and each easy to ski in a day.
Salzburg is a city of contrasts, the eye-catching, colourful townhouses, awe-inspiring castles and opulent palaces are complemented by classical operas and symphonies played live. In the same streets you will find cutting edge nightclubs and stylish bars. Friendly pubs serve traditional Austrian cuisine and locally brewed beer, whilst critically acclaimed restaurants offer modern, European cuisine. The year-round skiing of Kaprun is an hour away by car or Salzburg Snow Shuttle. Austria's first glacier resort offers scenic, smooth cruising for skiers and a terrain park for freestyle skiers and snowboarders. Cross-country skiers will also be delighted to find trails atop the Kaprun glacier. Salzburg is a truly individual ski destination.

St. Johann offers the most testing skiing for experts and there is plenty of tough terrain surrounding Salzburg. The glacier skiing above Kaprun is around the 3000 metre mark. The blue and red pistes have year-round snow and stunning views of the lake below.
The Salzburg Snow Shuttle is free for children under 4. Zell am See, Saalbach and Kaprun are all connected to Salzburg by the shuttle. All these resorts offer kindergartens and lessons for children.
A range of hotels, wonderful cafés, fine-dining restaurants, hip bars and trendy nightclubs can be found all across this vibrant city. Opera and classical music concerts can often be enjoyed, as well as fascinating art and history museums, beautiful castles and awe-inspiring churches which all vie for your attention. Traditional Austrian food and beer can be found in welcoming venues such as Wilder Mann, Stiegl Keller and the Zipfer Bräuhaus - perfect after a day on the slopes. Salzburg is a Mecca for the gastronome, highly regarded Gault Millau toques are common here. Try Hubertshof in Filzmoos and Obauer in Werfen.
