  1. Customers who apply for and are accepted for a British Airways Credit Card - Powered by Barclaycard will be eligible for a 9,000 Avios joining bonus. The joining bonus will comprise of 5,000 Avios awarded on the first qualifying card transaction and a further 4,000 Avios will be awarded if you spend R24,000 during the first 3 months on Qualifying Expenditure on the British Airways Credit Card. The first month's spend starts from the date your account was opened, not the date you receive your card, so you may not get a full calendar month to spend. Avios will be awarded within eight weeks of the Qualifying Spend being achieved.
  2. Qualifying Expenditure means all expenditure using a British Airways Credit Card excluding balance transfers, cash advances, and amounts billed more than once in whole or in part for the relevant period, delinquency charges, annual fees and interest. Avios will not be awarded if the goods purchased under the qualifying spend are returned.
  3. Customers will only be eligible for one joining bonus from British Airways. In the event that a customer re-applies for the British Airways Credit Card, Barclaycard may process an application and issue the British Airways Credit Card but British Airways will not award a further bonus offer.
  4. For every qualifying card transaction British Airways Credit Card cardholders will earn 1 Avios for every R7.50 spent or 1 Avios for every R5.00 spent exclusively at British Airways, BP and Pick N Pay. Double Avios offer valid until 31 July 2014.
  5. British Airways Credit Card cardholders are eligible for Priority check –in when travelling domestically within South Africa with British Airways (operated by Comair Limited). SLOW lounge access, companion and upgrade vouchers will be awarded when spend levels are reached on qualifying purchases within a 12 month period. Terms and conditions apply (see below).
  6. Members and their companion will be carried by British Airways (operated by Comair Limited) in accordance with its Notice and Conditions of Contract (as stated on each ticket) and its General Conditions of Carriage for Passengers and Baggage.

1. All people entering this promotional competition (the entrants) agree that the competition rules as set out in these terms and conditions are binding on them. A copy of this competition rules is available at www.bacard.co.za.

2. The Organiser of this promotional competition is Absa Bank Limited (registered number 1986/004794/06), all subsidiaries and associates of Absa Bank Limited and the ultimate holding company of Barclays Africa Group Limited, its subsidiaries and associates (“Absa”).

Rules of the competition

3. This promotional competition starts at on 1st of July 2016 and ends at 23.59 on 30th of September 2016 (dates inclusive). This will be the promotional period.

4. In order to be eligible for entry:
• the entrant must live in the Republic of South Africa
• have a valid British Airways Credit Card that is in good standing
• all qualifying transactions to be performed with the entrant’s British Airways Credit Card

Method of entry (applicable during period 1 July 2016 and 30 September 2016)

• 1 entry for every Point-of-Sale purchase

6. Absa, AGL (Avios Group Limited), British Airways (“BA”) and Avis, its directors, members, partners, employees, agents or consultants, the suppliers of goods or services and their respective spouses, life partners, business partners or immediate family members are not permitted to participate in this promotional competition.

7. 21 entrants will randomly be selected during the promotion draw with each being awarded one of 21 prizes:: The first winner drawn will be awarded:
• Two return business class tickets to London, UK travelling with British Airways from Johannesburg or Cape Town
• Avis Point 2 Point inner city transfer, subject to condition no 8 below
• 20 000 Avios The next 20 winners drawn will each be awarded:
• 20 000 Avios

8. Avis Point 2 Point inner city transfers are available in Durban, Cape Town and Gauteng only, and are subject to availability in specific areas. The Point 2 Point transfer may only be redeemed in conjunction with the flight prize and not on its own. The prize is for 2 (two) transfers to and from the relevant airport in Durban, Cape Town or Gauteng in a sedan vehicle (e.g. BMW 3 Series or similar subject to availability). The prize is valid for 12 (twelve) months of receipt of the prize letter specifying the details for redeeming the prize. The prize is subject to all Avis Point 2 Point’s standard terms and conditions.

9. Avios will be credited to the British Airways Executive Club account of the winner within 28 days from the date on which the winner provides their Executive Club number. Neither Absa nor British Airways will be liable for Avios being credited to the wrong account and British Airways will not be responsible to re-credit these Avios to the correct account if incorrect Executive Club numbers are supplied.

10. Avios are issued and redeemed according to the British Airways Executive Club Terms and Conditions. Avios will not expire if Members collect or spend a minimum of one Avios every 3 years.

11. Prize flights are valid for travel for twelve (12) months from the date of issue when the winner claims their prizes and are subject to availability at the time of booking and must be booked at least 56 days in advance. BA reserves the right to limit the number of prize travel seats available on any flight. It is possible that there will be no prize travel seats allocated on a particular service or the flight may be fully booked for prize travel seats, even though other seats are still available in the same cabin. BA does not accept any responsibility in the event that the winner is unable to book their preferred flight(s).

12. The winner and his/her travel companion are responsible for supplying valid passports and visas and obtaining inoculations that may be required to visit their destination. The promoter recommends that all passengers consider travel and medical insurance prior to commencing any flight.

13. Both tickets must be redeemed at the same time and cannot be split. Tickets must be used on the same journey, on the same day and the same flights. The travel companion must be aged 18 or over. These terms and conditions apply to both the Winner and the companion.

14. Where available, all prize flights will be issued as e-tickets. All airline taxes, fees and carrier charges are included. Tickets cannot be upgraded, transferred, sold or exchanged.

15. Winner/s may only chose from BA operated-flights. Travel on BA franchise, code-share and alliance airlines, domestic connections, transfers and other add-ons are not included. Once booked, no changes can be made to tickets.

16. All travel on BA flights is subject to BA's General Conditions of Carriage for Passengers and Baggage (see ba.com) and the notice and conditions of contract contained on each ticket and itinerary.

17. Any other incidental expenses are not included in the above prize and must be paid for by the Winner. For the avoidance of doubt, the promoters and BA will have no liability in relation to costs associated with travelling, accommodation and incidental expenses. In addition, the winner is responsible for any income or use tax assessed in connection with the prize.

18. Prize flights are non-changeable and non-transferable. This prize may not be used in conjunction with any other British Airways Executive Club and/or Avios special offers.

19. The winner will be randomly chosen from all qualifying entrants by the British Airways Credit Card Product Manager and monitored by, an independent supervisor, being a chartered accountant, registered auditor, admitted attorney, commissioner of oaths or advocate and by means of a draw to take place at the premises of Barclays Pretoria Campus, situated at Barclays Pretoria Campus, 270 Maggs Street, Waltloo, Pretoria, on Friday, 17 October 2016.

20. The prize-winners will be contacted telephonically on Friday, 17 October 2016. If the selected winners do not answer their landline and/or mobile phone, Absa will leave a message on the prize-winner’s landline or mobile phone (if possible). Absa undertakes to try at least three (3) times on three (3) consecutive days to notify the prize-winners. If Absa cannot get hold of the prize-winners telephonically or cannot leave a message telephonically, Absa will send a notice to the contact details (i.e. via sms, e-mail or post) provided by the entrant. The prize-winners will have 2 (two) weeks in which to claim their prize from date of notice to the contact details specified (i.e via sms, e-mail or post). In the event that a prize-winner does not claim their prize within two weeks from the date of notice in accordance with this clause a replacement winner may be selected from the remaining entries at Absa’s discretion.

21. Personal data will be taken where necessary from all entries received but shall be limited to those details reasonably necessary for the administration of the competition. This information may be shared with any other third parties reasonably involved in the competition without liability to Absa, BA or such third parties.

22. Absa would appreciate the right to identify the winners by taking their photograph (at no fee) and publishing this in the relevant media as decided by Absa. Absa does however acknowledge the prize-winners right to choose not to be identified and may refuse to have their photograph taken and published in printed media or to appear on radio and television.

23. If the prize-winners have given written consent, Absa has the right to publish the winners’ names and photographs (at no fee) in any advertising, promotional, print, point-of-sale or public relations material. The nature of these publications will be determined at the sole discretion of Absa, for a period of twelve (12) months from the date of the lucky draw.

24. Unless Absa has been clearly negligent or intended to act in a fraudulent manner, Absa, AGL and BA are not liable in any way for any direct or indirect loss or damage because of an entrant or prize winner’s participation in the promotional competition.

25. If Absa cannot continue with the promotional competition for any reason beyond its reasonable control or if it is required by any regulatory terms or applicable law to do so, Absa may end or alter the terms of the promotional competition on condition that– • the prize winners have not been determined; and • reasonable notice has been given beforehand to all entrants.

26. If the promotional competition is ended as set out in 24 above, no entrant will have any claim of any nature whatsoever against Absa, unless Absa has been clearly negligent or intended to act in a fraudulent manner.

27. Once the prizes have been handed over in terms of these rules, the results of the promotion are final in all respects and no correspondence will be allowed.

28. Amendments to the Terms and Conditions:
• Absa is entitled to amend the terms and conditions thereof in so far as same is deemed necessary and such amendments may relate to any aspect of such competition;
• the amendments may include the addition and or deletion of any exiting and or proposed terms and conditions of the competition, which amendments may also affect the identified prize money of such competition;
• the proposed amendments may be effected prior to the starting date of the competition and during the campaign period, which amendments may result in the campaign period being reduced and or extended as deemed necessary.

29. The promoters are in no way liable for the reproduction of or indirect access to this promotion or these terms and conditions via third party web sites or home page access where any reproduction of the information relating to this promotion misstates or omits any of the information or terms and conditions connected with the promotion.

30. Promoter’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into. The Promoters reserve the right to cancel or amend without notice the terms of this promotion and any tickets issued in the event of major catastrophe, war, strike, earthquake or any actual or anticipated or alleged breach of any applicable law or regulation or any other circumstance beyond the promoter's control.

  1. Regardless of the cabin class they are travelling in, priority check-in is available for all British Airways Credit Card holders and their travelling companions travelling domestically within South Africa on any British Airways (operated by Comair Limited) flights.

  1. To qualify for four complimentary SLOW lounge day pass vouchers, British Airways Credit Card cardholders need to spend a total of R50 000 on qualifying purchases with their British Airways Credit Card within a Card Year. A ‘Card Year’ is a period of 12 consecutive months commencing on the date the credit card was issued (“Commencement Date”) or any anniversary of the Commencement Date.
  2. The SLOW lounge day pass vouchers are valid for six months from the voucher issue date, via email.
  3. Each voucher is valid for one entry per person, and cannot be used more than once. Please present a voucher to the lounge staff when travelling with British Airways (operated by Comair Limited).
  4. The vouchers are valid for SLOW lounge access into Comair Limited’s lounges at O.R Tambo International Airport (Domestic and International); Cape Town and King Shaka International Airports, when travelling with British Airways (operated by Comair Limited).
  5. The vouchers are not transferable and can only be used by the cardholder. The cardholder is welcome to use an additional voucher to bring a guest into the SLOW lounge with them (limited to one guest at a time), provided the guest is travelling with the cardholder on the same British Airways (operated by Comair Limited) flight, subject to capacity.
  6. All minors (under the age of 18) must be accompanied by an adult.
  7. The vouchers have no bearing on any other frequent flyer membership which the cardholder may possess. Vouchers cannot be traded and do not allow the accrual of any frequent traveller currencies.

  1. To qualify for a complimentary annual SLOW lounge access card, cardholders need to spend a total of R200 000 on qualifying purchases with their British Airways Credit Card within a Card Year. A ‘Card Year’ is a period of 12 consecutive months commencing on the date the credit card was issued (“Commencement Date”) or any anniversary of the Commencement Date.
  2. Only one lounge access card will be issued to the cardholder in any Card Year.
  3. The annual SLOW lounge access card is valid for one year from issue date or until the date of expiry on the face of the card.
  4. To enter the SLOW Lounge please present your SLOW lounge access card to the lounge staff when travelling, with British Airways (operated by Comair Limited).
  5. This card is valid for lounge access into Comair Limited’s airport SLOW lounges at O.R Tambo International Airport (Domestic and International); Cape Town and King Shaka International Airports, when travelling with British Airways (operated by Comair Limited).
  6. All minors (under the age of 18) must be accompanied by an adult.

  1. To qualify for 10% Avios back on redemption booking (Redemption Benefit) cardholders need to spend a total of R100 000 on qualifying purchases with their British Airways Credit Card within a Card Year. A ‘Card Year’ is a period of 12 consecutive months commencing on the date the credit card was issued (“Commencement Date”) or any anniversary of the Commencement Date.
  2. Following qualification the Redemption Benefit is valid for 12 months.
  3. The Redemption Benefit can only be used once and will be automatically applied to the first qualifying redemption booking made following qualification.
  4. The Redemption Benefit is only valid on British Airways flights operated by Comair and is valid for a return reward flight for up to four people, travelling on the same reward flight booking. The Redemption Benefit is valid for redemptions in Traveller (economy) and Club (business) class.
  5. Only one Redemption Benefit can be earned per annual card year.
  6. The 10% Avios back will be credited into the cardholder’s Executive Club account six weeks after travel has been completed.

  1. The complimentary Club (business) class cabin upgrade is applicable to all British Airways Credit Card cardholders who spend a total of R50,000 on qualifying purchases per the annual card year, using their British Airways Credit Card, and again when spending a total of R200 000 on qualifying purchases per the annual Card Year, using their British Airways Credit Card. A ‘Card Year’ is a period of 12 consecutive months commencing on the date the credit card was issued (“Commencement Date”) or any anniversary of the Commencement Date.
  2. Each complimentary cabin upgrade voucher can only be used once and is valid for 12 months from the voucher issue date; when reaching R50,000 and again when reaching R200,000. A ‘Card Year’ is a period of 12 consecutive months commencing on the date the credit card was issued or any anniversary of the Commencement Date.
  3. The complimentary Club (business) class upgrade is eligible on all British Airways (operated by Comair Limited) routes.
  4. To use your cabin upgrade voucher customers will need to purchase a Y, B or H Traveller (Economy) class ticket. The Traveller ticket will then be upgraded to Club (business) class subject to U class availability.
  5. All booking payments must be made with the qualifying customer’s British Airways Credit Card. Avios points cannot be used to pay for the booking.
  6. Booking period; in order to take up this offer qualifying customers will need to book and pay for their flight within the first three (3) months of receiving this notification email. All travel will need to be completed within six (6) months of receipt of this offer and the validity period may not be extended.
  7. The complimentary cabin upgrade is applicable to the qualifying customer as well as a companion of their choice, provided the companion is travelling with the qualifying customer e.g. on the same flight, same day, and the guest ticket is booked at the same time as when booking the qualifying customer’s flight.
  8. All bookings are subject to availability at the time of booking.
  9. In order to ensure members’ Avios points and Tier Points are automatically tracked, customers need to quote their Executive Club membership number when booking their flights.
  10. Any cancellations or changes must be made at least 2 hours prior to departure and are subject to the applicable fare class rules pertaining to Y, B or H class.
  11. To take up this offer all bookings need to be made via the British Airways Domestic and Regional Contact Centre by phoning 0860 I FLY BA (0860 4 359 22). Qualifying customers will need to quote that they are a British Airways Credit Card cardholder, their name and surname, as well as the date they received the email notification. Operating hours are from 07:00-19:00 Monday to Friday, 08:00-15:30 on Saturdays and from 08:00-13:00 on Sundays.

  1. To qualify for a Companion voucher the British Airways Credit Card cardholder needs to spend a total of R200 000 on qualifying purchases with their British Airways Credit Card within a Card Year. A ‘Card Year’ is a period of 12 consecutive months commencing on the date the credit card was issued (“Commencement Date”) or any anniversary of the Commencement Date.
  2. Cardholders must have accrued the required billed expenditure on their British Airways Credit Card (the ‘Target’) within a 12 month period ending each year on the anniversary of their Promotion/ Card Commencement Date.
  3. Once cardholders have reached the Target applicable to their British Airways Credit Card, they will receive a voucher (the ‘Voucher’) on their Executive Club Account.
  4. The Voucher entitles the cardholder, when making a booking using his/her accumulated Avios points (a ‘Redemption Booking’), to book a return ticket (a ‘Reward Ticket’ – also known as a Companion Voucher) without incurring the flight price for a companion on that same flight (the ‘Redemption Flight’). Reservations and bookings for both the cardholder and the companion must be made at the same time. The Reward Ticket must be used for the same destination and must be booked in the same class as the Redemption Flight. Companion must travel with the Cardholder on both the outbound and inbound journeys.
  5. Cardholders and/or their Companion will be responsible for paying the taxes, fees and charges relating to the Redemption Flight and the Reward Ticket, including but not limited to departure taxes, passenger service charges and federal inspection fees. Cardholders must pay for these charges using their British Airways Credit Card. For bookings visit ba.com and log in using your membership details or call your dedicated Executive Club Contact Centre on 010 344 0135. A fee may be charged for bookings, changes and cancellations to Reward Ticket bookings, full details of which can be found on ba.com. It is not possible to redeem any Voucher by contacting any travel agent, or at the airport.
  6. Redemption Flights and Reward Tickets may only be used on British Airways (operated by Comair Limited) flights.
  7. This promotion is only available for Redemption Bookings made using Avios and cannot be combined with any other mileage or frequent flyer programme, or with partial cash payments.
  8. Reward Tickets are subject to availability and there is no guarantee of receiving a Reward Ticket to the Cardholder’s choice of destination under this promotion.
  9. The Voucher is only valid if it has been acquired in accordance with the rules of this promotion. Vouchers must be exchanged for a ticket and all outbound travel must be taken before the expiry date on the Voucher, which is 12 months from the date of its issue. For example, a ticket routing Cape Town to Johannesburg (return), the return sector Cape Town to Johannesburg must be taken before the expiry date on the Voucher. Vouchers are non-extendable.
  10. Cardholders must have a British Airways Credit Card at the time of travel. British Airways Credit Card reserve the right to refuse to issue or to honour any Voucher/Reward Tickets in the event that the Cardholder is in breach of either the terms of their British Airways Credit Card or the British Airways frequent flyer programme Executive Club.
  11. The Voucher may only be used by the Cardholder who must select/advise at the time of booking the Redemption Ticket and the Reward Ticket that he/she wishes to use the Voucher.
  12. At no time may the Voucher be purchased, sold, transferred to anyone else or bartered. Any such Voucher will become void.
  13. The Voucher may not be used in conjunction with any other offer.
  14. Any flight tickets obtained in exchange for an invalid Voucher will also be invalid and liable for removal by British Airways. Alternatively British Airways reserves the right to recover the full applicable fare for the Reward Ticket from the Cardholder or his/her companion.
  15. Vouchers cannot be used to amend existing bookings.
  16. Only one Voucher may be used at any one time for any one booking.
  17. If booking by telephone, Reward tickets must be booked at least 48 hours before the date of travel.
  18. Subject to the Executive Club terms and conditions relating to Redemption Bookings, if the Cardholder cancels the Redemption Booking or if the companion can no longer fly on the Reward Ticket more than 24 hours prior to the scheduled departure of the first flight, British Airways may reissue the Voucher which will only be valid for the remainder of its 12 month expiry period.
  19. Members with enquiries should contact the Executive Club Service Centre on 010 344 0135, Monday to Friday, 08:30-17:00.
  20. Schedules and destinations are subject to change without notice and listings are not conclusive or binding.
  21. Once flights are booked no routing changes are allowed. Once the companion is ticketed, no name changes are allowed.
  22. All Redemption Bookings must be made in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Executive Club.
