London flight FAQs

How long is a flight to London?

Your flight time to London depends on where you’re flying from and which airport you’re landing in. A journey from New York will take approximately seven hours, while Los Angeles to London takes around 10 hours and 30 minutes.

How many hours before my flight to London do I need to go to the airport?

You should go to the airport at least three hours before your flight to London to give you plenty of time to pass through TSA.

What’s the easiest way to reach central London from the airport?

We offer flights to three different London airports, so you can choose the one that’s most convenient for where you’re staying.

London Heathrow is London’s busiest airport. There are several options for your journey into the city, including the Heathrow Express, which takes 20 minutes to Paddington. The Elizabeth Line and Piccadilly tube line offer travel to other stations across the capital.

Catch a direct train from London Gatwick via the Gatwick Express and you’ll be at Victoria station in south London in 30 minutes. Or, hop on a Southern Rail train to get off at a stop close by.

Board the DLR from the train station just 50 metres from London City Airport for connections to the London underground network. It takes just 10 minutes to reach Canning Town tube station, where you can change to the Jubilee line.

What's the weather like in London?

London’s weather is famously unpredictable and can change quickly, so it’s worth packing sun protection as well as a rain jacket and umbrella. Summers in the city can sometimes be very warm so make sure to stay hydrated, and bring layers if you’re travelling at other times of the year as temperatures can drop unexpectedly.

Transport for London – known locally as TfL – offers connections across the city by both underground and overground trains, buses and boats along the River Thames. Lots of TfL’s services run until the early hours and some operate through the night during the weekends, but make sure to check before you travel.
