London Heathrow Terminal 3 Departures.

Whether you’re departing, arriving, connecting or want to know how to get to and from Terminal 3, you will find all the information you need to enjoy an easier journey through London Heathrow airport on this page. Maps to help you find your way around the airport are available on the Heathrow website.

British Airways flights also operate to and from Heathrow Terminal 1 and Terminal 5, as well as London City and London Gatwick airports. Check which London airport and terminal your British Airways flight will depart from or arrive into.

Departures

The following times must be met to ensure you do not miss your flight:

  • Check in no later than 45 minutes before your flight departs
  • Enter Security at least 35 minutes before your flight departs
  • Be at the boarding gate at least 20 minutes before your flight departs

You must check in no later than 45 minutes before your flight departs.

You can check in online 24 hours before your flight departs:

  • Check in and print your boarding pass on ba.com
  • Check in and download your boarding pass using the BA Mobile App

Check-in desks and self-service kiosks are also available for check-in at the airport.

  • If you are travelling in a group of more than 9 people, you will need to check in at a self-service kiosk or check-in desk.
  • If your child is travelling alone, or with you but on a separate booking, you will need to go to a check-in desk.

If you check in at the airport, the information screens will tell you which zone you can use for your flight. Dedicated desks are available for the following customers:

  • Customers travelling in Club Europe
  • Executive Club Gold, Silver and Bronze Members
  • oneworld Emerald, Sapphire and Ruby members

Once you have checked in, please use the self-service kiosks at the airport to print your baggage tags and attach them to your checked baggage before dropping them at the desks. Bag Drop desks for checked baggage open at the following times:

Gate information at Heathrow airport becomes available shortly before the flight opens. Please check the information screens at regular intervals and make sure that you are at the gate no later than 20 minutes before the flight departs.

Your time at the airport

There are lots of things to do at the airport before your flight departs. Whether it’s duty free shopping, relaxing in the lounges, picking up last minute essentials or catching up on emails using the free Wi-Fi, you can certainly make the most of your time.

Terminal 3 also offers a range of family services and facilities, including dedicated play areas in the free Family lounge, which is open daily between 06:00 – 21:00 and can be found by following the signs for Lounge A.

Priority boarding is available to families with small children and customers requiring special assistance.

Fast Track boarding is available to:

  • oneworld Emerald, Sapphire and Ruby members

Arrivals

London Heathrow is a large airport and for international flights it usually takes about 40 minutes to get to the Arrivals hall.

  • If you require additional support when leaving the aircraft, we will try to let you disembark as soon as possible but for safety reasons this could take up to 20 minutes.
  • If your wheelchair is in the hold, we will make every effort to return it to you as close to the aircraft door as we can. If that’s not possible, we will make sure there is a wheelchair available to assist you to the baggage reclaim area.

Fast Track Immigration is available from 05:00 to 22:00 for the following non-EU passport holders:

After passport control, follow the yellow signs for 'Arrivals/Baggage reclaim' and look for your flight on the information screens to see which carousel your bags will arrive on.

Once you have your baggage, you may need to pass through customs. More information on allowances and restrictions can be found on posters in the Arrivals hall. For more detailed information before you travel, please see the GOV.UK website.

If you are travelling in Club Europe or are an Executive Club Gold Member arriving on a British Airways long haul flight you can use the American Airlines Arrivals Lounge. It offers complimentary food and drinks, a breakfast bar, private showers, hair dryers and a clothes pressing service. You can also use free Wi-Fi and individual workstations with copy and fax facilities to prepare for the day ahead.

You can find the lounge when you exit to the right after the Customs Hall, then take the stairs or lift next to the restaurant to Level 2. It is open from 05:00 to 14:00.

If you are coming to the airport by car, exit the M4 (junction 4) or M25 (junction 15) and follow the signs for 'Heathrow Terminals 1, 2 and 3'. The postcode for satellite navigation is: TW6 1QG. If you are meeting someone from an arriving flight you must use the Short Stay Car Park or if you are bringing someone to the airport follow the signs for 'Departures' and use the outside lane to drop them off.

Special assistance

If you need additional help for your journey, e.g. for getting through the airport, boarding the aircraft, or reaching your onward travel connections, please let us know at least 48 hours before you travel through Manage My Booking and we can arrange this for you.

  • Before Security: in all Long and Short Stay car parks, in the terminal forecourt and on the first floor, opposite Internet Café (above Zones A and B in Departures)
