British Airways crew gave a great British send off to Molly Smitten-Downes as she gets set to fly the flag for the UK in Europe’s biggest singing contest.
The UK airline wished her the best of British as she flew out to Copenhagen to perform her self-penned song, ‘Children of the Universe’.
This year’s eagerly anticipated final takes place on Saturday May 10 as a diverse range of contenders take to the stage to do vocal battle for their country.
The 27-year-old rising star, who has supported the likes of Jake Bugg and Tinie Tempah, said: “As a singer and songwriter events don’t get much bigger than this and I feel so incredibly proud to be representing the UK in such a huge competition. It’s scary to think that 120 million people are going to hear a song I’ve written, but I can’t wait to do Britain proud.”
Captain Mark Hull, who was among the eight strong-team waving Molly off, said: “The crew at British Airways were thrilled to fly Molly to Copenhagen and I am sure voters will have no problem making their mind up and awarding her the full douze points!”
Bookmakers have placed Molly as fifth favourite to bring home the gold.
