The Ritz-Carlton, South Beach

There’s no better way to start your day in Miami than with an alfresco breakfast. And the one at the Ritz-Carlton South Beach is a particular favourite of mine. Overlooking the gorgeous tranquil pool, with the stunning view of Miami Beach in the distance, I enjoyed the most delicious eggs benedict, along with a glass of fresh Florida orange juice – this is a must.

Miami Beach Boardwalk

Take a leisurely stroll along Miami Beach’s elevated boardwalk, which starts at 46th street and ends at 23rd street. Along the way you will soon see some of Miami’s iconic trademarks – the colourful lifeguard towers, the surfers riding the Atlantic waves and some of the city’s iconic pastel buildings along Ocean Drive. Take a guided walking tour around the streets of South Beach to really appreciate the Art Deco district and the fascinating collection of vintage cars parked along the street – not forgetting to take a picture outside the Versace mansion!

Head to Lincoln Road for a refreshing drink and some irresistible people watching over a relaxing glass of wine and a snack or ice cream. You may do some damage to your wallet, but it will be worth it! The unique boutique shops, designer stores and art galleries are equally distracting!

Ocean Drive by night

Ocean Drive is the place to be and to be seen! As the sunset and the Art Deco buildings light up, Miami comes alive! A vast array of restaurants line Ocean Drive, so you will not be stuck for choice. A trip to Miami would not be complete without sampling some of their Latin American dishes. I love sitting outside and taking full advantage of the warm Miami breeze. It’s also another opportunity to continue people watching whilst sipping your Miami Vice cocktail! When I say happy hour, it certainly is HAPPY hour – words cannot describe the size of the cocktail glasses they use!
