Meal changes and refunds

You can change your meal or get a full refund up to 24 hours before your flight departs by calling your local British Airways contact centre.

After you have travelled, you can claim a refund if something went wrong and you didn't receive your meal.

You are able to change your meal choice from the on-board menu for free, up to 24 hours before your flight departs.

Economy class travellers

When you pay for our specially designed meals, you can change your selection up to 24 hours before your flight departs, by calling your local British Airways office.

How it works:

  • first, we will refund you for the original meal
  • then we will place an order for your new meal, so please have your payment card to hand.

These meal options are available on selected routes so if you change your route and we cannot offer you the service, you will need to claim a refund by calling your local British Airways office.

You will be unable to change your meal within 24 hours as that is when we are preparing and delivering your meal to your flight.

What happens when we change your meal?

On rare occasions, we may have to change the meal you paid for, in which case we will do our best to serve you a suitable alternative. If that’s not possible, you may apply for a refund.

Refunds

Before you travel

You can get a full refund up to 24 hours before your flight departs by calling your local British Airways office. Within 24 hours we will be preparing and delivering your meal to your flight so you will not be able to cancel it.

Claiming a refund after you have travelled

You can claim a refund for the meal you purchased if:

  • you did not receive the meal you selected or a suitable alternative that you were happy with
  • there was a problem with the meal you received
  • you upgraded to another class of travel where other meal options are provided
  • your flight was cancelled or changed to another flight by British Airways and you didn’t receive your meal.

How to apply for a refund

  • You can only apply for a refund on ba.com or by calling your local British Airways office. We cannot refund you on board or at the airport.
  • We will refund the credit card used to pay for your meal, unless you advise us otherwise.
