A chic escape on the Aegean Coast

Once the domain of bar-hopping partygoers, Bodrum has shrugged off this rebellious reputation and emerged a glamorous beacon for the Turkish glitterati. The shining yachts that congregate around the peninsula’s marinas say it all.

Yalikavak’s designer boutiques and a string of superb seafood eateries complete Bodrum’s image overhaul. Yet this evolving destination is also peppered with reminders of its ancient past. The magnificent Gothic Castle of St Peter, stands guard at the heart of Bodrum Town. While a 4th-century amphitheatre, Ottoman mosques and whitewashed villas also preserve this peninsula in another time. But don’t be fooled – Bodrum’s pulse continues to race in lively resorts like Gumbet, where the renowned nightspots of ‘Bar Street’ buzz until dawn. Alternatively, slow down and unwind on the pristine golden sands of Altinkum. Or enjoy laidback meze dining at the traditional tavernas of Didum. Whatever pace you prefer on Bodrum holidays, this glittering gem of the Aegean Coast will meet your needs.
