Soak up the sunshine at the beach or try an exhilarating water sport if you are feeling active. Dubrovnik is also known for its fantastic cuisine, so don’t miss its world-class restaurants before heading out for cocktails at a chic bar or two.

Dine out in Dubrovnik

Dubrovnik has a definite Italian influence when it comes to food, and is well known for its cheese, Prsut ham and fresh oysters from Ston, north of Dubrovnik. Proto, in the Old Town, is a favourite with the locals and serves fantastic seafood platters. If you are looking for a romantic treat, then Nautica provides the ideal backdrop and exquisite fine dining. Reasonably—priced Oliva makes authentic pizza in a stylish setting - don’t miss out on a towering ice cream, they are fantastic.

Dubrovnik nights out

Locals and visitors alike head to Placa Stradun (street) to get the night going. This thoroughfare is home to many bars and cafés and will have something perfect for you. Try the Troubadour Jazz Café, where nightly live music pumps over the square. Or the Revelin Club is housed in a former 16th century fortress, and is well worth a visit later in the evening when the bars are quietening down.

Explore Dubrovnik’s beaches.

Explore Dubrovnik’s beaches

Bask on Banje Beach, which is close to the Old Town, with views of the majestic walls. Splash in the shallow surf at Copacabana Beach, and gaze in awe at the coastal mountains. Or relax in seclusion at Sv. Jakov Beach and enjoy a picnic on the rocky shores opposite Lokrum Island. The locals’ favourite is the Danče beach, a boulder-strewn stretch just south of the Lovrijenac fortress.

Island hopping.

Island hopping

There are three major islands just offshore from Dubrovnik – Kolocep, Lopud and Sipan. You can easily visit these tranquil islands by ferry and go on walking tours of the islands. On car-free Lopud, you will find the remains of the Rector’s Palace and a monastery built in 15th century. Also nearby is the island of Korčula, whose vineyards make some of the best wine in Croatia. Visiting Dubrovnik would not be the complete without visiting at least one island.
