Pestana Casino Park Ocean & Spa Hotel sits in a sought-after location, amidst almost four acres of gardens, in the centre of Funchal. In addition to a setting close to the island’s main sights, you’ll find sci-fi style architecture, an infinity pool overlooking the ocean and the island’s only casino next door.
The resort is situated on the south coast of Madeira, its elevated position provides stunning panoramic ocean views. Just outside the resort you’ll find Santa Catarina Park, a vast expanse of manicured greenery with a lake and stunning views of Funchal Bay. The resort setting is also in between the lido – just over one mile away, and the Old Town – around two miles away. Head to the Old Town’s Mercado dos Lavradores, a market famous for its colourful displays of flowers, fruit and vegetables, or discover 14 million years of the island’s history at the Madiera Story Centre, two streets further east. Madeira Airport is 15 miles from the resort.
Accommodation could benefit from refurbishment in places and features a retro 70s vibe with orange and mustard colour palettes, contrasted with dark wood furniture. Classic rooms provide views of the city, gardens or sea, while Family Rooms comprise two connecting rooms, each with a bathroom, making them an ideal choice if you’re travelling as a group. Suites offer the most space otherwise, with partial sea or garden views.

The infinity pool provides a shallow area suitable for children and overlooks the Atlantic Ocean, surrounded by landscaped grounds and towering palms. Additional sunbathing spots can be found on the landscaped grounds, overlooking the cruise port.
The Magic Spa offers an additional pool underground, as well as a Jacuzzi, sauna and Turkish bath. A menu of treatments includes ‘Magic’ facials, massages and body scrubs, using products from Magic Spa by Pestana’s own range. Treat stressed skin with a Magic Facial Flash Effect, using antioxidant rich products for luminosity and follow with a Magic Rebalance deep tissue massage, using essential oils to improve circulation and detox.
A gym, tennis court, basketball court and a games room provide the opportunity for activity if you’ve surplus energy after exploring the island. During the summer months, the resort also operates a kids’ club. After dark, head to the casino or nightclub.
Dining information
Panoramico, the resort’s main restaurant, offers a breakfast buffet and themed dinner, with views of the pool and ocean from floor-to-ceiling windows – children's menus are available too. For poolside dining, Dockside Pool Restaurant & Bar has a salad buffet, as well as a selection of barbecued fish and meat dishes and views out to the Habour of Funchal, while Aqua Café provides light dishes and drinks indoors. Head to the Sunset bar for cocktails and live music.
