Overview

Opposite the pale sands of popular Jandia Beach, family-friendly Occidental Jandia Mar offers two outdoor pools, access to a water park, activities for children, and a range of entertainment at the theatre. The all-inclusive package and interconnecting rooms are ideal for families and there is a Wellness Centre for some much-needed downtime too.

Sat on the southern peninsula of Fuerteventura, the resort overlooks the 17-mile-long Jandia Beach and is backed by the island’s rugged natural park. Jandia Golf Course is sat just behind the resort and the town of Morro Jable is two and a half miles away, where you’ll find pretty beaches, as well as restaurants and bars. Fuerteventura Airport is 50 miles northeast of the resort – roughly an hour by car.

Distinctly Spanish in style, rooms have terracotta tiled floors, with an inlaid pattern enclosing the bed, as well as neutral walls and dark furniture. Upgrading to a Deluxe Room – with or without a sea view – grants bathrobes, slippers and a welcome minibar. Family Rooms are also available, allowing groups to stay in two interconnecting Double Rooms.

Other facilities

Two freeform main pools are surrounded by sun loungers and shade-providing pergolas. Pool towels are available, but please note, there is a deposit required and cost for exchange. You’ll also have access to the Barcy Waterpark, which features two zones of toboggans, a splash park and a bubbles area (access to Barcy Waterpark is included on the all-inclusive plan, otherwise charges apply).

Young guests will also love the Barcy Club, offering a selection of activities geared towards ages four to seven and 8 to 12, centred around topics such as the environment, science, magic and art. For teens from 13 to 17, the ONE room is packed with video games and board games, with film showings and a DJ room. There’s a kids’ playground, too. For all ages, evening entertainment begins at the hotel theatre, where shows, performances and parties are held.

For something calmer, grown-ups can retreat to the Wellness Centre with a Finnish sauna, hot tub, relaxation area, bucket shower, sensation shower, ice fountain and heated pool. You can book massages, too, ranging from deep tissue to aromatherapy.

Dining information

Mimosa Buffet Restaurant dishes up international eats for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There’s a kids’ area too. You can also dig into buffet bites at Higuera snack bar, where burgers, pasta dishes and salads are among items available in a relaxed setting. Aloe pool bar offers a wide range of refreshments and cocktails, beside the pool, as does El Mirador, located in the lobby area. If you’re catching an evening show, the Theatre Bar is on hand to keep you hydrated.
