Overview

This luxurious adult-only, all-suite, all-inclusive retreat is situated on the east coast in Uvero Alto. Enjoy magnificent natural surroundings, lagoon-style pools, and a matchless golden sand private beach, all in a tropical Caribbean atmosphere. Here you’ll find pure relaxation and privacy, thanks to low-rise buildings, expansive suites and bespoke service that provides an outstanding ‘home away from home’ experience. The hotel is built in a classic Caribbean style, with two enormous pools that wind through the grounds. There are 11 restaurants to entice you with a range of global cuisine, plus 12 bars, each with its own personality, a world-class spa, state-of-the-art fitness centre and an exceptional range of activities and services.

The hotel is situated in the Uvero Alto region on the eastern coast of the Dominican Republic. It’s 26 miles from the city centre and 28 miles from Punta Cana International Airport. The entire resort is enveloped by an extensive palm tree grove bordering a sandy beach. There are three excellent golf courses within easy driving distance, Punta Blanca, White Sands and Iberostar. Should you tire of Excellence’s private beach then nearby Bavaro Beach (24 miles away) is a tempting option. It easily ranks among the best beaches in the Caribbean. Macao Beach is even closer (eight miles), offering powder white sands and crystal-clear waters. There’s plenty of scope for water activities here too, from snorkelling to body boarding. The Rio Maimon Natural Park is worth visiting to witness the point where the river meets the ocean. Inland lies the Eco Park Punta Cana, 12 miles away, which makes for a fun day out, or for a shot of adrenaline try the Hacienda Tuko Zipline, which is 20 miles away.

The hotel is a true aquatic escape. In addition to its oceanfront location, it offers four swimming pools (two of them in the Excellence Club) and four separate Jacuzzis (again two in the Excellence Club). Most suites on the ground floor have either direct pool access, a private pool or a private Plunge Pool.

Excellence Punta Cana offers a wide variety of beach, land and water activities every day. Water babies will love making use of snorkelling gear provided, deep sea fishing trips, introductory scuba lessons and scuba diving with instruction. There’s an incredible variety of other activities on offer here. Whether you fancy a gentle game of bocce, a spot of yoga, a game of squash, some archery or maybe even a dancing or Spanish lesson you’ll find plenty of ways to keep active (additional costs may apply).

The Miilé Spa is tucked away in a beautiful traditional building facing the Dominican mountains. Indulge and embrace the experience of pure relaxation in the private spa garden, discover the water sanctuary, natural native treatments and rituals that allow you to create your own moments of renewal. Enjoy soothing indoor spaces and charming tropical outdoor gardens to reboot and revitalise. The spa specialises in all-natural treatments inspired by local traditions, warm and spectacular service delivered by skilled therapists using signature techniques. Serene spaces here include 14 indoor treatment rooms, a couples spa suite and six couples’ treatment rooms.

You can also make use of an Aqua Wellness Hydrotherapy circuit, complete with swan high pressure water hoses and a variety of showers. There’s also a Beauty Centre equipped with three cromotherapy pedicure stations with a calming garden view.

You have a total of nine irresistible a la carte restaurant options, a beach snack grill and 10 bars to choose from, all of which are included. Some restaurants feature smoking (outdoor seating) and non-smoking sections, others are exclusively non-smoking.

The restaurants here cover a wide gamut of cuisines. Do you fancy Mexican, Asian, Italian, Mediterranean or French cuisine? Perhaps you’ll want to match gourmet tasting dishes with fine wines from the Flavor Market? Maybe you’d like to sample a lobster specialty at the Lobster House or perhaps you just want an authentic steakhouse experience at the Grill? As an Excellence Club guest, you can also enjoy the elevated cuisine of Magna. Open for breakfast and dinner, dine al fresco at its extensive terrace affording spectacular ocean views and treat yourself to exclusive recipes, handcrafted cocktails and bespoke service.

Whatever your mood, there’s a bar here that will suit it. Kick back at the beach’s Chill Out bar, cut some rug in the Disco bar or hang out in the fun Sports bar sampling 13 different types of beers, playing a game of fusball or table tennis, or treat yourself to an ice cream or indulgent pastry treat of an afternoon. Maybe you can’t tear yourself away from the pool, and who can blame you?
