There’s plenty to keep you occupied during your stay at Sugar Cane Club. Its extensive grounds, full of intriguing tree species and birdlife, are a real focal point. You’ll find towering palms, leafy mango trees and blooming bauhinias, which are often occupied by native green monkeys or hummingbirds. You can also embrace the jungle vibe in the surrounding gully, which winds around the property’s edge. Explore the gardens in your own company or enjoy a free guided nature tour with the hotel’s expert gardener. The hotel also provides complimentary glass bottom boat tours. However, please note these excursions involve swimming with turtles, and animal welfare should always be respected. Soak up the sun down on Sand Street beach and enjoy access to complimentary sun loungers.

Active guests can rent complimentary mountain bikes for nearby trails or make use of the squash court and reasonably sized gym on site. For relaxation, there’s an attractive freeform swimming pool area, complete with lounge chairs, sunbathing deck and a poolside bar. Since the property is intimate, seating can be limited during busier periods, so it might be worth reserving a lounger. You can also indulge at the full-service spa, whether you fancy using the hydrotherapy bath, steam room or booking a therapeutic massage. Plus, there’s a calming outdoor zone which offers a plunge pool and gazebo. The hotel also boasts a Frangipani Art Gallery, which presents a range of colourful artwork and exclusive gifts.  

Dining information

La Salsa Restaurant & Bar is the main restaurant which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Set above the pool, this attractive open-air restaurant enjoys views of the surrounding natural beauty. For breakfast there’s a substantial buffet comprising pastries, cakes, fruits and pancakes – as well as a made to order omelette station. Lunches and dinners feature a la carte options (which alternate each week), such as the fresh catch of the day, grilled meats and a choice of international or Caribbean-inspired dishes. Otherwise, hop on the complimentary shuttle down to Sand Street beach in Speightstown and grab a drink and dine at the lovely Sand Street Bar and Restaurant. The shuttle runs from 09:00 to 17:00 and is available to book at the front desk.

Sandy’s Chattel Bar Restaurant is a Bajan-style rum shop serving traditional Caribbean dishes. Try West Indian shrimp curry or the ‘pepper hot’ slow cooked stew from the a la carte menu. Otherwise, check out the special Steak N' Ale menu on a Friday night. Keep in mind that dinner reservations are required. Meanwhile, the poolside bar is the place to order refreshing cocktails or to enjoy a simple afternoon tea. It’s here that the hotel regularly hosts its Poolside Dining Nights, whereby restaurants close so that buffet and barbeque diners can enjoy dining beneath the stars (weather permitting).

There’s a range of entertainment such as mixology sessions, live cooking demonstrations and a weekly cocktail party. Steel pan entertainment is often provided during dinner at both restaurants. However, for quieter nights in, room service is also available at the hotel.

The dress code is casual throughout the day and elegantly casual after 18:30. After this time, sleeveless shirts, shorts and hats should not be worn in the restaurants or bar area.
