Overview

Good Little Harbour is a family-run boutique hotel in a secluded area of Barbados, with direct access to a white sand beach and calm, turquoise waters. Find simple sophistication, traditional Caribbean decor and colonial-style buildings throughout the two-acre property. Its individual cottages are set amongst tropical gardens, creating a calming retreat away from the hustle and bustle of the island.

Located in a sleepy fishing village on the north west coast of Barbados, this property enjoys a laid-back atmosphere, away from the flashier areas to the south. It’s situated along a main coastal road, so hiring a car or booking taxis are popular modes of transport (the hotel also provides a water taxi service for a supplement). Speightstown is the nearest town (just under two miles away), boasting an array of delightful bars, restaurants and boutiques dotted along the picturesque seafront. You can also reach bustling Bridgetown in under seven miles. Meanwhile, Grantley Adams International Airport is 24 miles away.

One-, two- or three-bedroom cottage-style suites are set in the coral-stone buildings which are scattered around the tropical grounds. They feature plantation doors and shutters, with attractive wooden railings. Inside, the rooms are outfitted with solid wooden furniture, rattan chairs and floral or tropical print textiles. All suites are equipped with a flat-screen TV, Bodum coffee press and iPod dock. They feature a living area and private terrace (or balcony) and kitchens make them ideal for self-catering – you can even pre-order groceries before your arrival. One Bedroom Suites have a split-level design with a living area, kitchen and balcony on the ground floor and a bedroom, reading balcony and en suite bathroom on the upper floor. Three Bedroom Vineyard Suites offer the ultimate space and privacy with an open-plan kitchen (which includes a washer dryer) and a master bedroom with a reading balcony and private claw-foot bathtub. The second and third bedrooms offer additional bathrooms.

The property is divided into two areas, separated by a road. The inland side is home to the spa and pool, whilst the ocean facing side is where you’ll find the reception, restaurant and beachfront. (Suites are located on both sides.) The beachfront is small but quiet, offering sun loungers and calm turquoise waters. You can hire kayaking and snorkelling equipment free of charge or head to the jetty to use the water-taxi service (charges apply).

The two on-site swimming pools are attractive, bordered by lush foliage, oriental sculptures and exotic trees. Both pools are surrounded by cushioned, wicker lounge chairs, and there’s free Wi-Fi available here (or at reception). The main pool is situated near the intimate spa building, where you can indulge in a selection of facial, body and massage treatments or a manicure or pedicure.

Dining information

The Fish Pot Restaurant is set on the water’s edge in a historic fort building. The original, coral-stone walls feature large windows which open onto the Caribbean Sea, creating the perfect backdrop for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Dine al fresco on the decks and enjoy the seafood, international or local cuisine made from fresh, regional ingredients. It’s best to make a reservation, as this restaurant is popular with guests and locals alike.
