Overview

Set on a manicured 371-acre estate, Pestana Vila Sol, Vilamoura offers a peaceful stay in the Algarve. Situated in the Algarve region of southern Portugal, the hotel lies just two and a half miles from the upmarket Vilamoura resort, which is well-known for its bustling marina, golf courses and Blue Flag sandy beaches. Vilamoura merges with Quarteira, a town that boasts a palm-lined promenade and access to more stunning beaches. Closer to the resort, golfers can tee off at the acclaimed Vila Sol golf course, surrounded by local vegetation and lovely natural formations. The historical Roman ruins of Cerro da Vila are under three and a half miles away from the hotel; and you can reach Faro Airport in less than 14 miles.

Rooms and suites are mostly decorated in Portuguese style with warm tones, terracotta floor tiles and high wooden ceilings. They include free Wi-Fi, a safe and a minibar with water and soft drinks (upon arrival, items in the mini bar are complimentary). Each en suite bathroom contains a bathtub or shower, double-basin sink and toiletries – as well as bathrobes and slippers for additional comfort. Other facilities

There are two outdoor swimming pools on the property, which are surrounded by lush lawns, palm trees and sun loungers. Each pool is set on two different levels, separating the adults’ pool from a shallower children’s pool. Order drinks from the poolside bar in between sunbathing and swimming or you can also spend time wandering around the extensive landscaped gardens.

The hotel provides an array of sports facilities for those who like to keep active. Aside from the appealing golf course, there’s a jogging track, two tennis courts and a fitness centre. Bicycles can also be rented at the hotel, allowing you to discover the natural beauty of the area (charges apply). After exercising, refresh in the indoor heated pool, relax in the sauna or indulge in a treatment at the Vila Sol Resort Spa.

For children, there’s a supervised kids’ club which offers a range of fun activities during high season, suitable for children between the ages of 4 to 11 years old. In addition, live entertainment is provided (high season only).

Green Pines Restaurant is open for lunch and dinner, serving a range of international dishes and traditional Portuguese cuisine. In the daytime, you can order light bites and refreshments at the Pool Bar, located beside the outdoor swimming pool. At the Clubhouse, there’s Le Club which serves drinks and international cuisine. Overlooking the golf course, it’s the perfect spot to enjoy light meals, snacks and drinks throughout the day. Meanwhile, Prime Bar offers a tempting cocktail menu and gentle background piano music during high season in the hotel’s main building.
