Jersey holiday FAQs

Make the most of your Jersey holiday

Jersey has its own, unique flavour – and we’re not talking about its exquisite local cuisine. This beautiful Channel Island gem is blessed with spectacular scenery. You’re surrounded by miles of beautiful coastline, so get out there and explore it.

What are the best things to do in Jersey?

1. La Hougue Bie is home to the world’s 10th oldest building, predating the Egyptian pyramids. From myth to medieval legend, you'll be fascinated by Jersey's rich history spanning six millenia.

2. You’re never more than 10 minutes away from the water’s edge. If time is precious you must visit St Brelade's Bay, it’s one of the island's most popular beaches and is voted one of the best in the UK. If not, hire a car and tour them all in one short stay. The wild beaches of the north offer towering cliffs and grassy dunes. Explore the rocky pools and hidden caves of Plemont at low tide.

3. The coastal roads lend themselves perfectly to cycling and there are plenty of rental opportunities to choose from, some deliver straight to your door. The 96-mile cycle network, which includes 15 mph ‘green lanes’, is suitable for everyone – so don’t worry if you’re not a lycra-clad cycling enthusiast. There are also lots of beach cafes and pubs for regular stops, so less-practiced cyclists can enjoy some time off the saddle too. Alternatively, you could pack a picnic, for an impromptu spread somewhere between farm, field and coast. Cycle along the north coast from La Corbiere to L’Etacq. Or make the journey from St Aubin’s Village to Corbiere lighthouse. This is a great option for families, as it follows a child-friendly cycle track with a kids' playground and café along route.

4. Cliff paths and beach walks pave the way for seaside strolls, at any time of year. The rugged north gives an insight into the island's wild side. Uninterrupted coastal paths follow the ups and downs of the coastline and steep climbs guarantee fantastic views, overlooking hidden bays and inlets. The flawless sandy stretches of the south reveal golden bays and wild heathland, while the rolling Atlantic waves of the west entice surfers and attract wildlife, within Jersey’s impressive Coastal National Park.

5. With the Jersey Pass, you can visit the best that Jersey has to offer with one affordable ticket. Enjoy free entry to many of Jersey's top attractions plus you can save money with lots of special discounts and reductions across the island.

What are the best places to visit in Jersey?

St. Aubin’s Bay is a central hub, on the popular south coast, with an impressive sandy beach stretching from St. Aubin’s Village to St. Helier. Play volleyball at the Gunsite or swim in the Victorian bathing pool. If you’re staying in St. Helier town centre be sure to visit Havre des Pas and Greve d'Azette, for a stroll along the art deco style boardwalk or a dip in the lido.

Follow a walk on Grève de Lecq with a stop in a welcoming country pub – the perfect opportunity to sample some Jersey cider. The fishing port of Rozel Bay is sheltered by greenery and lined with cute cafes and harbourside eateries. On a chilly day take refuge in The Hungry Man for the famous Marshmallow Hot Chocolate Explosion.

Take to the water as you kayak around the hidden beaches of Grève de Lecq’s shoreline, a peaceful way to soak in the scenery. Or opt for a more adrenaline-fuelled activity, as you rock jump in Beauport, where the rocks are made from beautiful pink granite. The gentle waves of Belcroute Bay are ideal for paddleboarding. If you’ve already mastered the knack of stand-up, challenge yourself with a yoga session on your board. For bigger swells, join the surfing crowd in St. Ouen’s Bay, home to one of the oldest surfing clubs in Europe.

Which holiday type in Jersey is right for me?

Whether it’s a weekend dedicated to pampering or a day trip to the spa, the island’s impressive sanctuaries will not disappoint. Hide away in the intimacy of the Club Hotel & Spa, its cosy spa is the perfect place to enjoy some ‘me time’. Leave the Thermal Suite feeling invigorated and refreshed, after time in the salt cabin, herbal steam room or experience shower. Be sure to try the popular Rasul Mud treatment, for a guaranteed holiday glow. The spa at Hotel de France will lull you into a relaxed frame of mind. Shake off that tired feeling in the Health Club experiencing the innovative training concept Milon.

Jersey’s investment in its homegrown produce has made it somewhat of a foodie haven. White shutters and equally pristine table linens set the tone of Ocean Restaurant at The Atlantic Hotel, but you’d be forgiven for only having eyes for the ocean view. Seasonal a la carte and daily changing menus are inspired by local Jersey produce, and complemented by the extensive wine list. The three course Sunday lunch is the perfect indulgence on a lazy weekend away. If you’re seafood lovers, why not treat yourself to the seafood platter at The Terrace at L’Horizon Hotel & Spa. Enjoy whole Jersey lobster, L’Horizon crab cakes, moules marinère and more, dished up with a helping of Jersey Royals and salad. Washed down with a glass of something ice cold, and you could have yourself a perfect Jersey afternoon.

Go for a ramble – walking is a popular way to see the beautiful scenery of Jersey. Awaken your senses with the fresh salty air, crashing waves and miles of flawless scenery. Cliff paths and beach walks pave the way for seaside strolls, at any time of year. The rugged north gives an insight into the islands wild side.
