Corporate Safety and Security

Safety and security encompasses everything from operational flying, our working environment and assets we utilise. Operating independently of all other departments, the Directorate supports British Airways' stated core value of being "Safe & Secure". We champion the companies' safety and security-based culture, and seek continuous improvement throughout the airline, IAG and our alliance partners.

We achieve this through a "one team" approach, supporting our colleagues to deliver a safe and secure operation:

Safety And Security
  • Monitoring safety and security performance and ensuring processes exist which comply with current legislation and best practice.
  • Investigating incidents and facilitating effective preventative action and feedback.
  • Providing consultancy and education on safety and security issues.
  • Determining Health, Safety and Security policy.
  • Exchanging information on safety matters and sitting on relevant committees.
  • Creating and enhancing safety and security management systems, tools and measures.
  • Setting standards across IAG, one world alliance, and our partners worldwide.
  • We are responsible for the physical protection of British Airways property.
  • Security at board meetings and the Annual General Meeting.
  • We conduct enquiries into any asset losses.
  • Manage protection of the airline's assets.
  • Review and assess international risk.
