Future Pilot - Share your passion

About you

As one of our pilots you’ll see the world, and this means that wherever you go you’ll be an ambassador for British Airways. While we wear our uniforms with pride, it’s how we act that really sets us apart. Talk to any of our pilots and their enthusiasm is evident – we’re looking for people who share this passion.

You’ll not only need to be talented but also incredibly motivated and committed to excel during this demanding training programme. You must be able to keep a cool head under pressure and solve complex problems using verbal and mathematical reasoning. Some flying or gliding experience would of course be beneficial, but is not essential.

Excellent communication skills are a must so that you can play your integral part in our airline’s endeavour to deliver world class customer service. This unique programme is open to any aspiring pilots who will be between the ages of 18 – 55 on 1st September 2014. Aspiring pilots from school leavers to those changing career are all very welcome to apply.

You will need:

  • 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above, including English Language, Mathematics and a Science (single or double award), excluding General Studies.

PLUS

  • either 3 A-Levels at Grades BBC or above, excluding General Studies and Critical thinking.
  • or an Honours Degree at 2:2 (or higher) or a pass (or above) in a higher degree such as MSc, MA, MPhil, DPhil, PhD, MBA.

Please note you must have achieved the entry qualifications at the point of application. We cannot accept predicted grades. If you have equivalent academic qualifications then you will be asked to provide a Letter of Comparability from UK NARIC before attending your first selection day. The Scottish educational qualification equivalents are detailed in the FAQ page.

If you are unsure regarding the equivalency of your qualification you may wish to visit the UCAS website. However please note your equivalent award should be in an academically relevant subject(s).

If you have completed, or are planning to complete, any JAR-FCL Airline Transport Pilot ground school examinations (or EASA equivalents) then you should note that in order to be accepted onto the Future Pilot Programme you must NOT have already sat any of these exams at the point of commencing training under this programme.

Furthermore, we would be delighted to accept applications from current or former UK Service Pilots so long as applicants from this stream have not yet commenced flying training at an Operational Conversion Unit (OCU).

If you find that you are not eligible to apply for this scheme, you might find another challenging and enjoyable position within our company at our careers website www.ba.com/careers. We’d love to hear from you if there’s something else that you’d like to apply for.

You must hold a valid passport, have the indefinite right to live and work in the UK, with the ability to travel worldwide without restriction.

Whilst you will be excited by the prospect of frequent travel, you will also be cognisant of the fact that we operate flights globally, day and night, every day of the year.
