We manage the commercial development of the British Airways worldwide schedule to maximise value from our network of services. Our focus is on reconciling market conditions and opportunities with operational considerations – a role that places us right at the heart of airline operations.
More specifically, we’re involved in recommending new routes, additional frequencies, capacity changes and more competitive timings. We also carry out large-scale evaluations in partnership with colleagues from other areas of Strategy. This can involve anything from evaluating the network impact of proposed flight re-times through to maintaining a 5-year route plan.
In addition to developing long-term plans for the airline, we represent the commercial side of the business when it comes to managing the many smaller adjustments which happen with short lead times. At the same time, we’re heavily involved in evaluating and implementing the network component of our relationships with alliance and franchise partners. Co-ordinating the network teams is a critical link in maximising the benefit from these relationships.
