  • Bringing the community together

Three months of being at British Airways as a Gatwick Commercial Analyst and I receive an invite to the biannual Analyst Community Event. Not really knowing what to expect, though excited at the thought of meeting fellow analysts in the company, I accept the invite.

During the event I met ‘data manipulators’ from departments I didn’t even know existed and I was alarmed at the fact that there are over 170 members in the community!! The event included a range of thought-provoking topics from external and internal speakers which everyone in the room could relate to. It became clear to me that this was a great opportunity to share best practices and knowledge and being a newbie, I intended to make the most of it.

Reflecting on what had been a very productive hour and a half and curious to know more, I signed myself up to help organise the next event. The organising team consists of 6 members from different analytical departments within the community who based on feedback from the community and current hot topics look to compile a fun-filled agenda.

Three months of organising had flown by and the event was nearing! Based on popular demand the theme of the event was networking, which involved career path talks, hot topic discussions, a speed networking activity and a trip to the local pub! It was great to see such an event so well attended and the response so positive – we as a team had achieved our objective of bringing the community together!
